As play to earn games have grown exponentially over the last few years it’s future might be bleak.
A bleak future?
The data doesn’t lie, the GameFi industry is still growing and it will, according to data, have a total worth of 2.8 billion dollars at the end of 2028. At this point you might say to yourself that doesn’t seem like a future of impending doom for the industry right?
Lets not forget the recent FTX disaster, a castle that was built on rocks washed away like sand when the tide rolled back and everyone could see that the rocks were only a projection, an imagination of the strong image FTX had but nothing was more true.
This seems to be the problem with a lot of play to earn games, a lot of bark and no bite. Promised sky castles, fata morganas etc. the list of failed projects is so long that nobody has time to research all of it.
But why is it that most of these projects fail?
Broken foundation.
The biggest reason why most play to earn games fail is because they try to work from the top to the bottom. Creating a token is more important, and the game only becomes a second thought. But in reality the game has to come first if you want to have a strong foundation.
Rebuilding the foundation.
If play to earn games want to have a future in the web3 gaming space they have to rebuild their core principles from the ground up. The game first and Tokenomics second.
Play to earn games shouldn’t only focus on the money making aspect of the game, the focus should be on making a game fun to play. Giving players a compelling challenge, the balance between player strategy and chance events, aesthetics and rewards that are not only money based. Earning money in play to earn games should be a nice extra but not the main focus.

We as Cryptopolis believe that you can learn from the mistakes that other projects have made in the GameFi space. The core principles of the game have to be right and that is the vision that Cryptopolis has. A game that’s fun to play, players socializing and exploring the Tower together, building a community that will last and take our game to the next level. In short, GameFi is about adding a new dimension to Web2 games and not reinventing the wheel. Cryptopolis believes in that new dimension, the extra layer on top of a traditional game. Fun and refreshing that is what we want to give the player and the community. If we hold ourselves to these standards and do not fall in the same traps of our predecessors then there will be a future for play to earn games.
